Either route can make or break you. In reality just because a tire costs a lot of money that doesn’t mean it’ll be a winner. Once again you have to consider the user reviews of tires before making your selection. Maintaining Tractor Trailer Tires Once you have purchased new tires for your tractor trailer it’s up to you to keep them in prime condition. This involves maintenance issues including: Tire rotation on a regular rotation schedule to make certain tires have a consistent tread depth Properly inflating tires depending on the temperature of the region in which the driver is operating in, and according to each load type and weight amount Placing the tires so that the larger tires are on the outside, and all tires are within a quarter of an inch in regards to their spacing depth While you should always do a visual check on your tires for your DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections, taking a little extra time and care on inspecting your tires can help you tremendously. Retreading Tires on Big Rigs One of the best ways to extend the life of your big truck tires is by retreading the surface. Retreading involves using a hot tool to add new treads to the surface of a tire.

This is a legal practice and one great way to reduce your truck tire expenses. In order to improve your truck tire retreading capabilities you want to spring back to that maintenance topic. By keeping your tires rotated regularly and maintained you ensure they wear out on a level surface. Then when you go to retread the surface you will have much better success in achieving a perfect retread.
