It’s super easy & quick. You can make your own floors too !! I absolutely LOVE my new double sided floors. First and Foremost Here is what you will need! ( and HOME DEPOT has all of thisOr Im sure Lowes, Rona any home hardware store ) WOOD – We went to home depot and picked up 16 – 8 foot planks STAIN- Can be any colour of your choice – I used Varathane Premium Wood Stain In Kona & Walnut ( 2 kindS) White Paint – you can choose any white Paint of your choice. I went with the Same paint I used for the studio which is more of a warmer tone:) Paint roller- Any size will do A rag – Used for staining Sponge – for getting tight spots or small brush Now that you have all your supplies it’s go time ! I set up Outside ( If you’ve ever seen me paint you would know why ) LOL
1. Line up all your wood 2. I started with the White paint first, so I painted one side be sure to get in all the nooks and crannies using either a small brush or sponge. 4.Let Dry, Once Dry flip these bad boys over It’s time for some stain ! 5. Carefully open the can of stain using a rag dip in and coat the opposite side you have painted. and Repeat ( I used two coats) I didnt actually like how dark it was at first so I ended up sending the board through the plainer and then re staining in a lighter Walnut Stain:) 6. Once dry It is time to put them up ! I used a curtain rod to slide the wood behind, for me to be able to flip when needed There you have it ! Easy as Pie LOL Now you have a beautiful DOUBLE SIDED new floor to photograph on ! If you want you can Also screw your board together to keep them in place, I didnt since I like to be able to move mine around the room and store away when Not in use:) The Finished Product : and an updated Version Of my Wall & floor

I get a lot of emails asking where I get my white floor from and the answer is, I made it.  “I” didn’t make it, the hubs did.  I have to give him full credit for this one because I just told him what I wanted, bought the supplies and he brought it to life.  Such a great man! Wood planks – We bought 8ft planks from Lowe’s.  If you are on-location I recommend going with the 4ft planks so you can easily transport them.  I use 7 planks for my floor. Valspar paint – Lowe’s – You will need an undercoat color, the color that will show through (mine is chocolate brown) and then a top coat color (mine is a cream color) Valspar Weathered Crackle Glaze – Lowe’s Paint rollers – 3-4 Paint tray – 3-4, just the cheap plastic ones Now that you have all of your items, it’s time to get busy. 🙂  Vaslpar has a section at Lowe’s with all of their faux finishing techniques and you can pick up a pamphlet there for easy reference (recommended) or click here for reference as well.
1. With wood planks laid out, apply a base coat of Valspar paint according to label instructions. Allow to dry 4 hours or overnight before applying Weathered Crackle.  Make sure you paint the sides of your boards the same color as the bottom coat. 2. Using a premium quality short nap roller of nylon brush, apply an even coat of Weathered Crackle to the surface. Uneven application will cause unwanted variation in the cracking pattern. 3. Let Crackle Glaze dry 1-4 hours before applying top coat. Waiting longer than 4 hours may require re-application. 4. Using a premium quality roller or brush, apply a flat latex paint in the color of your choice. Do not overwork this coat. One application in a single direction works best. There you have it, easy peasy!  This project is pretty fail proof and if I had time I’d love to do some funky colors like red base with turquoise top, fun!  Or with Valentines coming up, doing a red crackle would be fun too!  Ok, I need to stop… my hubby will kill me as we’re cleaning out our house to move.  He
For the background I just use my wall and use Pure Photoshop Action’s blanket fade action to blend the floor to the backdrop.  If you’re on-location just pick out a blanket or some fabric that is close to the same color as your top coat and hang that from your backdrop stand. Clipping, editing, and arranging so many photos has me kind of jumping out of my skin. I don’t do process photos. I don’t have any disposable patience. My kids get the entire allotment. You know I paint? I can paint realism. Because when I do I feel like my cells are trying to crawl out of my pores. I get all itchy and antsy and want to scream. I don’t have the patience for minutiae.
Aaaaand so it is with these process photos. Have I ever mentioned I am also a procrastinator? Mmmm. Yessss I am. . . . . That’s why this post should have been up about 4 days ago, but it’s up today instead. Because last Thursday, when I had intended to start working on it, I started reading The Kitchen House instead. That book goes on the most-loved list. I finished it on Saturday, but then we had a date night, and drinks, and thus a cocktail induced mind-fog on Sunday, and a family dinner shindig, so no such thing as blog progress on Sunday. Then, well, once again – big surprise – germs seem to love our house, so we’re dealing with a bout of sickness again. The faux wood surface. It’s all yours, Baby.and let me tell you – this is version #1 – I have another one to show you – but I just. do it right now. Give me some time to recover, then I’ll show you version #2. So the faux blue wood surface – Here’s how you do it:
