Dog T Shirt Instead Of Cone

Pet Portal & Patient Info CE & Alumni Info Having trouble getting your pet to wear his plastic e-collar after surgery? Here are some alternatives to protect his wound, and heal more comfortably while preventing him from chewing on his sutures. Forelimb wounds: Long-sleeved T-shirts knotted at the waist to secure them are a handy way to protect sutures located on your pet’s forelimb. Abdomen wounds: Short-sleeved T-shirts knotted at the waist are a good way to protect sutures located on your pet’s abdomen. Hindquarters wounds: Short-sleeved T-shirts put on backwards (tail through neck hole, legs through arm holes) and knotted to secure can help protect hindquarters sutures. (Note, this needs to be removed when your pet is taken out to urinate or defacate). Leg wounds: Putting 2 snug socks over your pet’s leg can deter wound biting. Loose socks may be difficult to keep in place. Comfy cone: This flexible collar enables your cat or dog to lie down more comfortably, while still preventing them from chewing on wounds.
(These are sold at Angell’s Pharmacy). Bite Free/cervical collars: These collars help prevent wound biting without impeding peripheral vision. Inflatable collars: This is another option which preserves peripheral vision while protecting wounds. Step 1: Tools & materials you'll need. Pet Injury Protection: Alternatives to the Cone of Shame It’s all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone. So goes the caption to an irresistible LOLcat image I keep on my smartphone. It’s one that serves to underscore the immense pleasure we humans seem to get from subjecting our pets to the “cone of shame.” Variously known as the “E-collar” (short for “Elizabethan collar”), the “lampshade,” the “satellite dish” and “that ungodly torture device that goes around her neck,” the ubiquitous plastic cone is by far the most common solution to the problem of postoperative incision complications and other areas in need of self-trauma avoidance. That’s because most pets have a thing about licking at their incision sites, pawing at their itchy ears, rubbing their irritated eyes and generally scratching and chewing at body parts they shouldn’t.
But what’s worse than having to force your pet to wear the cone? Having to deal with the ravages inherent to self-trauma situations in pets. After all, restitching incision sites isn’t fun for anyone. And blowing beaucoup bucks on antibiotics after she has overdone it on what was once a simple scratch is no fun either. Given these alternatives, keeping one of these devices on your pet would seem to be the lesser of two evils.Buy Bamboo Curtain When E-Collars Don't WorkAshley Furniture Sell Off But let’s say you have a pet who performs one of the following tricks when he’s sporting an E-collar:The Best Tennis Shoes For Bad Knees Takes aim at the nearest fragile item and barrels headlong into it Thinks your knees look like a reasonable enough alternative to the aforementioned breakable

Didn't once bother with the cone from the vets. Easy to wash, get on, fasten. Like the little clip inside so she could still go to the toilet. Was this review helpful to you?  Yes  /  No1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Rating:  Freedom vestThursday, 18 August 2016  |  AnnieAfter my pup slashed open her back she had to wear the 'lampshade' to protect the clips and let the wound heal. She could not drink easily and she kept on hitting my other dogs. We bought one and what a "Godsend" it has been.Rating:  Doggy WrapWednesday, 27 July 2016  |  PatriciaBought the shirt for my dog as she was to be spayed - it kept her warm and cosy after the operation and helped minimise scratching at the site of the operation. RoyThis was a very well made, soft and comfortable vest that meant our dog didn't have to use the cumbersome frightening dog bucket type collar. Had no attempt by the dog to lick the wound. Easy to put on, retained it's shape when washed, dried quickly, and frankly our dog didn't want to take it off! Would recommend it to any dog owner.Yes  /  No2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Rating:  Wonderful Product - Medical Pet ShirtSaturday, 23 July 2016  |  SallyThis is a wonderful product. Nice and comfortable and fitted my labrador perfectly (size medium plus). I used it as an anti-suckling shirt so my girl could enjoy playing with her puppies without being constantly mauled for milk! Great at the weaning stages. Will be very useful when she is speyed too - much nicer than the old style uncomfortable cone! I would highly recommend it. Most of my friends have already ordered one on my recommendation.Rating:  Excellent productWednesday, 13 July 2016  |  JoyceMy dog had abdominal surgery and would never tolerate a cone/cushion or anything like that for 2 weeks.
