I've been using it on floors in addition to my rugs and it puts a lot of water out while you're holding the button on non-rugs but you can pull that water... This Rug Doctor is great to have. It eliminates renting a unit and having other people's left in the machine. It also covers more area and I have less changes that need to be made. I rented the older, red version of this from walmart and was surprised at how well it cleaned. This is so much better than a smaller, less expensive brand you can buy at the store... I have this model. Nothing on the market beats this product. I have cleaned carpet behind other brands and cleaned what other brands could not. This machine cleans carpet great. The suction will have your carpet dry in no time .. The attachment works good on stairs , you will see all the duty being sucked up . Good piece of equipment. The question really is whether or not the Big Green cleans so much better that it's worth the price.I tested it on an old carpet remnant we've had sitting out in the garage for more than ten years. It has never been vacuumed nor steam cleaned until today. On the left of the screen is my new Big Green. The center is preserved for the "before" comparison. The right is my SteamVac. As you can see, there is an obvious difference in cleaning capabilities. I actually gave my SteamVac an extra whirl because it looked so dirty, but it still looks dirty compared to the Big Green side.It's hard to tell from the video, but the dark color you see from the SteamVac side is not wetness. The darkness is actually a more muddied appearance, as if the SteamVac had added water to dirt.
