My Tools Used: A box knife, a straight edge metal yard stick, a pencil, and a board to cut on. My Method Used: I laid down all the full locking pieces I could and then precisely measured the wall-to-mat-gaps. I matched the measurements to each square piece (top side up) using two pencil marks per square (one on each end). I laid my pieces on a board and lined my metal yard stick up to each of the two pencil marks on each end. I pressed very firmly on the yard stick and pressed firmly on my box knife, repeating the cut until separated. The key here is to never move your yard stick once you start your first cut. If you move it, your repeated cuts through the rubber will be crooked. I was able to use on side of the box knife blade for the entire room. Slices like butter and I didn't lose any fingers... whew!

Be careful using this method. Other methods might make it easier such as using an electric skill saw as they do for laying wood floors down. My square footage estimates for the entire order allowed me one extra rubber square after making a few mistakes along the way so the project was a success. Very happy with my purchase of this product. The mats seem like they will last through much abuse and I'm not afraid to get them scratched up over time as they have a rugged look anyhow. The flooring was perfect for our needs. SupraTile 4.5 mm Diamond Pattern Black / Grays I was a little hesitant when ordering because my total order was about $1,000 and I had no previous experience either with installation or owning any such product before. I have to say, it was worth every penny. Installation was very easy. The pieces to together with a light tapping of a hammer and cuts were very easy using a relatively cheap $10 pair of tin snips from Home Depot. I have had it in my garage for about a month now and the tiles appear to be very durable and waterproof (condensation from my car A/C just sits on top of the tile). Really no complaints at all. If I had to list a downside, it would be that because the tile does expand in the heat, the hottest summer days make some of the tiles a bit floppy but it goes away when the sun goes down and they contract again a bit. Because of this, you don't want to run them right up against the walls of your garage when doing the installation.

I was able to find a matching concrete paint and painted a very small bit of the concrete at the edges of the tile and up the wall for a more finished appearance. The product is great and it absorbs any sound or movement associated with a floating gymnasium floor. I would highly recommend this product due to it's quality and ease of use/installation. The dark wood grain matches our wood floor! It feels so good to walk, play on or even nap on.
