Adoption is one of the most compassionate and loving things you can do for an animal. All of our adoption animals at one point in time were in the Lost and Found area of our shelter, thus not having a real home. By providing a loving, caring, “forever” home, your pet will provide you unconditional love for the rest of its life. DAS always has a great selection of dogs and cats for adoption, too. At any given time, we have as many as 150 dogs and 50 cats available for adoption, and hundreds more available for pre-adoption. They come in all sizes, shapes, and ages so you’re sure to find “the perfect one.” Our adoption fees are the best “deal” in the area, too: All of the animals have been thoroughly checked for health and temperament, have great personalities, and are ready for a loving home. Dallas Animal Services celebrates our seniors by offering reduced adoption fees on animals over 6 and for citizens that are over age 65 and considering adding a new best friend.

These affordable rates will also apply when you adopt more than one pet at your visit to Dallas Animal Services. We always have a selection of pets that have been in our adoption program more than two weeks, and adoption fees on those pets are waived. When you adopt a pet from a shelter or other rescue organization, you’re giving that animal a second chance – and saving a life. More than 16,000 homeless dogs and cats were killed in Dallas last year. It’s a number that’s shrinking each year, not as quickly as we’d all like it to.

Many shelter animals are highly adoptable, but there isn’t the kennel space, staff, funding or time to find them homes. They don’t get the exposure they need to find the right home. DPA provides that exposure through our website and adoption and community events we attend. See Our Available Dogs Online See Our Available Cats Online By adopting from DPA: You make room for us to help another dog or cat in need. You get an immediate sense of community pride by being part of the answer to the growing problem of homeless pets. Most importantly, you experience the unconditional love that only the newest member of your family can give. Our Promise To You We work to ensure our adoptable pets are healthy animals by providing a pre-adoption assessment and veterinary care. Each pet is adopted to you with: Heartworm testing and treatment, if necessary Our Goals for DPA! To find responsible individuals to adopt unwanted, abused and neglected animals.

Raise the awareness and availability of shelter animals as loving companions and fantastic family pets. Decrease euthanasia rates in shelters by providing high-exposure adoption opportunities. Raise awareness about the importance of spay/neuter for population control. All of our adoptable pets have varying minimum donation amounts. Please refer to the lists below: Dogs six months or older: $200. Cats 6 months or older: $100. The minimum donation for kittens: $150. Some fees may vary depending on medical needs or other criteria.
