If you overeat, or eat the wrong foods, then those issues will only end up resurfacing in the long-term, and you could end up putting back on the weight you've lost – and even more.So, instead of thinking about what you eat, think about when, where and why.Do you tend to eat well at home, then lose all restraint at the vending machine in the office? Or perhaps you have a habit of reaching for a mid-afternoon sugary treat to give you an energy boost, or comfort eat when you're stressed? Figuring out where your problem lies means you can start working on these issue to create a long-term change in your eating habits. Many of us may not be addressing the real issue of why we are overeating, Dr Norton says. Looking at where and when we overeat - such as at the vending machine at work - could help identify patterns We naturally lose muscle mass as we get older. It's called sarcopenia and we may lose around eight per cent of our muscle mass per decade.This reduces our metabolism and can make it harder for us to lose weight.

Eating protein and carrying out muscle-building exercises will promote weight loss, Dr Norton saysI've seen it time and time again. Women come into to my surgery, desperate to lose weight, after struggling for years with diet after diet. Every time they fail at yet another crash diet or quick fix weight loss plan, they end up feeling depressed and disappointed in themselves, as if it is their fault, their own willpower that has let them down again.

Boy George – The blood test diet During a recent chat with Metro, Boy George gushed about a new bespoke diet. It involves blood tests which can then determine a diet that is right for you.
Admitting it’s revolutionised his health regime, he said: ‘Every single plan is unique. My mum’s done it, my brother’s doing it at the moment and I have a few friends doing it and everyone has a completely different diet. We might want to tone up for our bikinis but we don’t really fancy having needles stuck in us all in the name of dieting. It also sounds like it might come with a celebrity-friendly price tag. 7. Phillip Schofield – The 5:2 diet It’s the diet that has taken 2013 by storm. You eat normally – within reason – for five days of the week and then reduce your calorie intake to 500 or 600 for two days of the week. And then you lose a shed lose of weight. Phillip has never exactly been on the heavy side in our eyes but when we saw his before and after pictures, it was clear the 5:2 diet had worked on him. However, we’re not sure how we feel about starving ourselves for 48 hours every week. 6. Caroline Flack – The 30-day squat challenge
Caroline Flack’s keep-fit method is something we’ve never heard of. You start by squatting 50 times on day one of the challenge and eventually increase it to 250 squats on day 30. It sounds tough but on the bright side, you’re allowed a rest every three days. This plan might sound like a lot of fun and relatively easy on first-listen, but thinking about doing 20 squats is making us feel a little wobbly – let alone 250! And we’re not quite sure what parts of the body it helps – other than the legs. 5. Britney Spears – Yoga, cardio, yoga, cardio She’s going to need all the energy she can muster when she begins her Las Vegas residency later this year. But Britney isn’t afraid as she’s hooked on yoga and cardio. She recently revealed she does 90 minutes of the stretchy celebrity fitness craze twice a week. But she also fits in three hour-long sessions of cardio with her personal trainer. And it’s perfect if you’re not a fan of dieting as she says: ‘Dieting is tough because my specialties are spaghetti, brownies and chocolate chip cookies.’
Britney has never looked so hot so if she says yoga and cardio are the way forward, we’ll happily book up some sessions. 4. Stacy Keibler – The Gwyneth Paltrow diet George Clooney’s ultra-hot girlfriend Stacy Keibler credits Gwyneth Paltrow for inspiring her new interest in healthy eating. In a recent chat with Metro, she said: ‘I bought her cook book – it’s amazing. I work with the same doctor she’s working with Dr Junger. That sort of started my health journey. Her cookbook was about the elimination diet, an extremely healthy way to eat, so I really admire what she’s doing.’ Stacy isn’t the first celebrity to gush about Gwyneth’s cook book and she won’t be the last. We’d try it if it meant Clooney would take notice of us. 3. Katy Perry – The M-Plan diet If you like mushrooms, you’ll love this diet. Katy Perry is one of the latest celebrities to sign up to the ‘M-Plan’ – after the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Roxanne Pallett.
This latest single-ingredient diet involves replacing either a lunch or dinner with a mushroom filled dishes instead. And lasting just 14 days, the best thing about it is that it promises to help lose weight from the usual problem areas of tums, bums, thighs and upper arms – but ladies are promised they won’t lose a single inch from their busts. It sounds too good to be true but as it promises results in 14-days, we may as well give it a go! 2. Khloe Kardashian – Eat what you want, but in moderation Khloe Kardashian has battled with her weight issues for years but she recently revealed she’s a new devout follower of US self-help author Bethenny Frankel – and she swears by her. Bethenny’s mantra is not to deprive yourself of the foods you love, but to eat them in a more controlled way, Khloe explains: ‘Well I can’t stop drinking. I love to drink. I need that for my sanity. For eating, honestly, I love food and I feel like that’s family time, it revolves around food.
I’m just more aware of what I’m eating. But I won’t deprive myself because I used to be on diets and I’d never last and so I just try to be more aware of what I’m eating and just in moderation.’ Khloe has never, ever, ever looked so hot. When she took to the turquoise carpet this week at the Mr. C Hotel in Beverly Hills, she took us all by surprise. Eating what you want in moderation sounds like a good plan to us! 1. Rob Kardashian – The ‘fat boy’ diet He cries about his weight nearly all the time but it seems Rob Kardashian is finally on the road to losing some pounds. He revealed last year he had gained 40lbs after his split from Rita Ora and at the start of this year, vowed to lose 50lbs on a ‘fat boy diet’. He’s tweeted snaps of his new diet, including fruit, oatmeal, fish and greens, and seems keen to get fit again. Rob’s got a long way to go but he’s definitely lost some of his podginess. We think he should take a leaf out of his sister Khloe’s book though – she has hit the nail on the head where dieting is concerned.
