The storage of glycogen expands the size of muscle cells, and the storage of triglycerides expands fat cells. Now, in healthy humans, cells are sensitive to insulin. That is, they respond to insulin properly by taking in the glucose that the insulin is trying to shuttle out of your blood stream. The more sensitive your cells are to insulin, the better they respond to its presence in your blood.
