Light Bulbs In Checked Luggage

Luggage capacity will certainly not be a strong point of the funky new Renault Twingo, with its rear-engined, rear-wheel drive architecture. The layout doesn’t leave that much space in the back for cargo, and if you were hoping they made sure there was room for things under the (front) hood/bonnet, then you will be disappointed. As you can see in the video posted below, courtesy of Autoforum, the entire front part of the car is taken up by liquid storage: windscreen washer fluid, brake fluid and coolant reservoirs, plus the battery. It doesn’t even look like they designed the hood with opening in mind, since it’s quite a fiddle to get it open. You have to remove two caps hidden away in the fake grille, and then pull two levers to pry it open; it’s pushed towards the front and then comes off completely. Mind you, this is nowhere near as bad as what Renault put you through if, say, you wanted to change a burnt out headlight bulb on a second-generation Megane – you could only reach it through the wheelwell, after you had removed the wheel, of course, as well as some other plastics that are in the way.

This new Twingo deal actually represent progress compared to that… Would this be a deal breaker for you?
Blue Smoke CurtainsI know I’d still be able to overlook it, since the rest of the package is still very attractive for an avid city car driver.
