To read the complete article, join now! When the weather is beautiful, an outdoor table becomes the focal point of activity in the yard or on the patio. Whether hosting a picnic, barbecue, or just a simple dinner outside, an outdoor table is an indispensable piece of furniture to make the outdoors feel like home. Outdoor furniture can be pricey though, and the selection of styles may seem overwhelming. Luckily, with just a few supplies and a free afternoon, homeowners can build their own outdoor table and save some cash in the meantime. Once builders decide to craft their own outdoor table, they should gather the necessary supplies. Wood is generally the easiest material to work with when building a table for its versatility, but adventurous individuals could consider welding metal legs to the table or creating a mosaic tile tabletop. Materials to consider include: Be sure to wear safety googles and take adequate precautions when working with power tools to avoid unnecessary injury.

Working with a partner can make the outdoor table construction easier. While assembling, remember to construct the table upside down and then flip it over later.

Home Theater Curtain Rods To build the tabletop, take five of the 2-by-6-inch boards and lay them side by side.
Moving Company Code Of EthicsNext, create a frame around the 2-by-6-inch boards. Do this by taking two additional 2-by-6-inch boards and lay them on their skinny ends on both long sides of the tabletop. Take two 2-by-4-inch boards and lay them on their skinny ends on the long sides of the tabletop.

This creates a tabletop of five 2-by-6-inch boards surrounded by a frame of wood that is a little taller than the tabletop. If any wood overlaps on the frame, cut the wood down so the pieces meet in a perfect rectangle. Next, drill holes along the outside of the frame and into the 2-by-6-inch boards. Each 2-by-6-inch board should have two holes on each of its ends, creating 10 holes on the shorter side of each rectangle. Drill additional holes along the two longer sides of the frame; approximately six to eight holes on each side. Using a screwdriver, screw the deck screws into each hole, attaching the tabletop wood securely to the table frame. To build the legs, cut the 2-by-4-inch boards to create two lengths of wood, each 24 inches long. These form the braces to attach to the underside of the table. Next, take the 2-by-8-inch boards and cut four legs, each 30 inches long. Cut the end of each leg at a 45-degree angle to lay flush with the ground and tabletop. Finally, cut the remaining 2-by-4-inch boards into two additional pieces of wood, each 30 inches long.

These form the crosspiece supports for the legs. Next, drill two holes into each end of the 24-inch long board brace, then screw two legs into each 24-inch board. Be sure the legs are angled the same direction on each brace. Then, take the 30-inch long boards and screw each end perpendicularly to the legs, 16 inches up from the tabletop brace. At this point, the legs and braces form two upside-down A-shapes. For the final step, attach the two leg parts to the tabletop frame. Lie the tabletop braces perpendicularly down on the tabletop, 5 inches in from the short ends of the frame. Be sure to angle the legs outward away from the center of the table. Screw the braces into the 2-by-6-inch boards that comprise the tabletop. Once each side is completed, flip the table over and stand it upright. Make sure that the table is steady before use. If desired, builders can add additional crosspieces to the legs or underside of the table to create additional support. Once the table is complete, sand down any rough edges.

To protect the table from the elements, stain the wood, treat it with Rust-Oleum, or paint it to add a colorful spark to the new creation.
