A passerby made the disturbing discovery only yards from a primary school in the early hours of Saturday and rang the animal charity. Initially, he thought the dog, its lifeless body resting against brickwork, had been nailed to the wall, the Birmingham Mail reports. In fact, it had been hanged using a metal chain tied to the railings near Kates Hill primary school in Dudley, the West Midlands, and was left dangling 15ft from the pavement below. Horrific: The dog was found hanged Both the RSPCA and police were called to the horrific scene where the male Staffie-mastiff cross had been killed.
The charity has now chosen to release this shocking picture in a bid to encourage members of the public to come forward with information. Inspector Dave McCartney said: "There is no doubt that this was a deliberate act. Whoever has done this has lowered the dog over the fence and pulled the chain up and fixed it to the railings above. "We won’t know all of the physical details about this dog’s death until after the post-mortem results come in, but there is no doubt in my own mind that this dog would have suffered. "We want to find the owner, but we also really need to find whoever was responsible for killing this dog in such an horrific way." Trauma: The horrific scene was found only yards from this primary school in Dudley The dog, estimated to be between one and two years old, was not microchipped and it is not known who owned the pet. Anyone with information about who the dog belongs to, or who may be responsible for its death, is urged to contact the RSPCA.
