I have one puppy left. Her name is zoey. She is a female 9 week old golden doodle puppy. (Havanese / Lhasa Apso) A little about the “Hava-Apso” Breed “Happy-Go-Lucky” is the best word to describe the Hava-Apso breed! (Havanese / Lhasa Apso mix breed) Hava-Apso puppies average between their parents sizes as adults = 10 to 16 pounds depending on the puppy that you choose from the litter. They are a pretty much a small Lhasa Apso with the Hybrid vigor. I am going to describe the two breeds that are combined into the well-loved “Hava-Apso”. This will help you to understand why they have become such a hit with families everywhere! Here are some pictures of Havanese / Lhasa Apso mix breed puppies. There are many more photos of them in my photo gallery – Enjoy! Lhasa Apso’s are gentle, loyal and affectionate. They are easily trained and are responsive to kindness. Their beautiful dark eyes are appealing, they are pleasing in personality and eager to follow their masters around.

Lhasa Apso’s are a great choice for families with children, especially small children that may be accidentally too rough with a smaller dog. They are hardy dogs, furry all over, and have long drop ears. They can be quite playful at times, and truly one of the happiest dogs I have ever known! They greatly enjoy being around their owners, often trying to sit on them or next to them whenever you are around. They are playful and get along well with children as well as adults. They make good watch dogs as well, looking out for whoever is there. They are good with children and will be your BEST buddy! The Lhasa Apso is rated Very High as a watch-dog. They are very alert and react to new smells and sounds around them by letting their owners know. They have a “big dog” bark which leads an intruder to think there is a big dog behind that door!  Although they are mostly friendly to visitors, welcome and unwelcome. A 13 – 14 year life span, the first Lhasa’s to come to America were a gift from the Dalai Lama to a naturalist and his family from America, the C. Suydam Cuttings.

Just recently Registered by the AKC in 1995, Havanese are known as the National Dog of Cuba. They are a happy, outgoing, charming, small but sturdy dog whose temperament and trainability have made them excellent candidates for obedience training. Havanese are natural companion dogs: gentle and responsive. They become very attached to their human families and are excellent with children. Very affectionate and playful with a high degree of intelligence. These cheerful dogs are very sociable and will get along with everyone including people, dogs, cats and other pets. They live long lives, (14-15 years), and possess a kind spirit. They attach to their owners easily, making them “fantastic little friends.” They can have a little bit of a shaggy appearance, but when brushed, are soft as a down pillow. Havanese are gentle, kind little dogs that are ideal for owners who want a little buddy to follow them around. Havanese are responsive and friendly. They are intelligent, faithful, and devoted to their families.

They are natural clowns as well. Havanese are affectionate and living to please. They are attentive, quiet and gentle, but still love to play. They will play tirelessly with children. Havanese require minimal exercise, making play sessions an easy outlet for their energy. Learning Rate – High; Problem Solving – High. The Havanese is a non-shedding, hypoallergenic double-coated breed with soft hair, both on outer and undercoat. Adult hair coat reaches 6 to 8 inches, and has a pearly sheen. The gait is unique – lively & ‘springy” which accentuates the happy character of the Havanese. The Havanese gives a rugged impression of a little dog, sturdy, and while a small breed, it is not fragile. Easy to obedience train, this curious dog loves to observe what is going on. The Havanese have a long reputation of being circus dogs, probably because it learns quickly and enjoys doing things for people. It is not their nature to bark a lot. Havanese are good watch dogs – making sure to alert you when a visitor arrives, but will quickly welcome the guest once it sees you welcome them.
