Posted In Arts & Culture, Guides, New York We’ve been clad in wool for too many months!  It’s time to think Spring and we thought we’d share some of our favorite Thrift and Vintage Shops, their addresses and websites too. Shareen Vintage located at 130 West 17th Street.  Dresses, dresses & more dresses and a beautiful selection of vintage wedding gowns.  
This is not a street level shop.  It’s located on the 2nd floor of a walk-up building and worth the trek. Since you’re on West 17th Street, also stop at Pippin Vintage Jewelry located at 112 West 17th Street between 6th/7th Avenues and Angel Street Thrift Shop located at 118 West 17th Street.  Angel Street’s proceeds benefit those affected with HIV/Aids and substance abuse issues. Hamlet’s Vintage just closed their Bleecker Street shop to take larger space at 146 West 4th Street, near 6th Avenue. The new space, which looks very much like Trash & Vaudeville,  opened in March.  This is not a consignments shop. Hamlet will buy your vintage clothing. New York Vintage located at 117 West 25th Street between 6th/7th Avenue and is directly across the street from the 25th Street Garage as well as a wonderful vintage jewelry shop, This n That located at 124 West 25th Street with a window full of bakelite bracelets. Star Struck Vintage is located at 47 Greenwich Avenue.  This is a family owned shop that has been a Village fixture at this location for 34 years.
Everything organized by color and style. Family Jewels Vintage Clothing has been at their large, inviting street-level location since 2000. They are located at 130 West 23rd Street. Cure Thrift Shop not only has vintage clothing, but also has an ever changing selection of antique furniture that overflows onto the sidewalk during the summer months.  Moving Company Code Of EthicsAll proceeds are donated to the Diabetes Research Institute.How Much Does Event Draping Cost The very eclectic and wonderful Screaming Mimis located at 382 Lafayette Street.  Used Furniture For Sale KansasHere you will find a separate section for high end designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino and Balenciaga and a separate costume section.
Amacord Vintage located at 252 Lafayette has an extensive collection of Chanel, Gucci, Prada and many other designer brands. Nice selection of vintage jewelry too. Dressing Room Bar & Boutique located at 75 Orchard Street. In addition to their clothing exchange, they have a section for up and coming independent designers and a cocktail bar! Community 54 located at 54 Clinton Street is a combination of new and vintage behind an entrance filled with arcade games – yes, you can play. Edith Machinist located at 104 Rivington Street is the go-to place for vintage shoes.  Beautifully displayed, they have a wide selection from the front door to the back wall. Portia & Manny is located at 151 Ludlow Street, they are open Wednesday through Sunday. David Owens Vintage Clothing located at 154 Orchard Street, David Owens is the place to go for vintage suspenders. While we were there they had a rack of cashmere coats – $100 each – and going fast. Located in Harlem is Trunk Show Designer Consignment Shop at 275-277 West 113th Street.  
They carry high end vintage like Givenchy, Chanel, Alexander Wang and Rick Owens to name a few – and also local emerging designers. Some of our other favorite vintage shops have several locations…… Second Time Around has 10 locations in NYC at last count. Buffalo Exchange is located at 332 East 11th Street and 114 West 26th Street Ina has locations in Noho, Soho, Nolita and Chelsea Housing Works located all over the City and proceeds help those affected by HIV/AIDS. Wonderful finds can be had including a wide selection of furniture. We can’t forget our favorite online vintage shops like Back In Style, which has a huge Emillo Pucci collection.  And also our local flea markets including Hell’s Kitchen and the 25th Street Garage are often called the vintage shops with no walls. There are Goodwill Thrift Shops and the Salvation Army all over the City and we must mention that recently we walked by the Goodwill on West 79th Street and spotted a pair of green Manolo Blahnik’s in the window!

While they also have offerings for plenty of other age groups (ages 0–8), Area Kids' specialty is in toys and gear for your tiniest. The shop mostly stocks clothing from local designers (Egg & Avocado, Appaman), but you’ll also find imaginative and unusual toys from France and Germany. It's a great place for picking up a subway-themed Brooklyn onesie, adorable teether and classic baby toys like the Pull-a-Tune Xylophone, and there's even a "Made in the U.S.A." section online so you can feel great about giving back to local vendors. A stroller parking lot, an in-store changing table, daily product demos and weekly storytimes are just a few of the nifty amenities at this everything-for-baby spot.
Be sure to check out their line of organic cotton toys (we love the plush animal finger puppets) and bodysuits. All the kidware, including clothing, strollers and furniture, have been vetted to meet parent-minded criteria such as space-save-ability, washability and durability. At this home-furnishings store with designs exclusively for tykes, shoppers will find whimsical nursery and youth furniture plus adorable accessories. Blankets, playroom accessories and small toys are also available. Owner Grace Kang has been a buyer for Barneys, so it's no surprise that her store is filled to the brim with chic clothes and accessories for kids. They'll love rocking clothing and accessories like Liberty of London hair bows ($16), bear-claw booties ($52) and Brooklyn-repping onesies ($32) at play group. Thanks to J.Crew's line for kids, parents can help Junior perfect the collegiate look decades before he or she heads off to Brown. This flagship location, on the UES, sells cardigans, rompers and bubble skirts for girls and chinos and suede boots for boys.
You'll also find fun accessories (necklaces, bowties) in the mix. Everything's ultramodern at this Billyburg baby mecca, a spin-off of Brooklyn design store Two Jakes. Look for the latest bags, strollers and cribs from brands like Oeuf, Argington and Bloom. You'll also find helpful stuff for potty training and playtime, plus great gifts for friends with babies/toddlers. Owner Carol Adams transformed her successful store Babylicious into Torly Kid—a one-stop shop for tots, kids and tweens. You'll find best-selling lines like Pink Chicken, Nano and Appaman, plus an extensive collection of party favors. This Soho boutique comes to NYC courtesy of Iceland. Head to the back of the shop for racks of children's clothes, including whimsical items from brands like Bonpoint, Bonbon and Simple Kids—all timeless picks your kiddos will grow out of long before you're ready (and used again for future generations)! Husband-and-wife team Aslan and Jenn Cattaui fill their cozy 450-square-foot store with the stuff kids dig—Gogo's Chop Shop plushies, small wooden cars/trains and adorable pull-along toys—even playmats and teethers!
They also carry vintage wear that’ll make parents envious. The shop mainly focuses on the under-six set, but they also stock pieces for older children from popular lines such as Bobo Choses and Nununu. You'll wish this stuff came in your size. Show up on a weekend afternoon and it might be rough to navigate through the sea of bellies working on their registries. The selection of goods is vast, from basic pacifiers, bibs and washcloths to floor-to-ceiling displays of fancier diaper bags and bedding. You’ll also find strollers (both low- and high-end), as well as nursery setups complete with cribs, sheet sets and mobiles. You may know LuLu's Cuts & Toys, but have you checked out LuLu's for baby? Located next door to the kiddie hair salon, this shop sells strollers, carriers, clothing, swaddle blankets, playthings and baby-care products for newborns to two-year-olds. Children's fashion editor turned entrepreneur Bronagh Staley handpicks this boutique's clothing and playthings for kids ages newborn to eight.
