Competition closes 30 September, 2016 Sky Zone Trampoline Park takes fun to another level for people of all ages. It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends and enjoy fun activities like Skyfit, Sky School, Little Leapers, Dodgeball and more. People of all ages have been jumping over to the Sky Zone Everett, a new indoor trampoline park, for fun and fitness. Stella Downie, owner of the spacious 27,000-square foot facility located at 69 Norman St., welcomed Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. and city officials to the ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday. Downie has built up a wide following among indoor trampolining enthusiasts. She launched the first indoor trampoline park in the region, Sky Zone Boston, in Hyde Park last year to introduce a new option for kids and adults seeking ways to have fun and stay fit. Sky Zone Boston has drawn adults, teens, and kids in large numbers and it appears that Sky Zone Everett, based on the early response, is on its way to becoming a very popular destination.

What was the inspiration to bring an indoor trampoline park to Boston and now Everett? “I come from a retail background – I owned Stella Bella Toys in Cambridge for a bunch of years and loved having a community business where people come together and do something fun and joyful,” said Downie, who grew up in Newton. Downie wanted to try something different in her business career so she began looking for a new concept “where people could come together and do something playful without having to sell people stuff. So we just sell jumps.” The new facility is brightly lit and beautifully designed, a day brightener as soon as you step in to the door and are greeted by a friendly staff. The facility features a large main trampoline court with 95 separate trampolines, two Dodgeball courts, a kids’ court, a foam pit, and two Aero-Ball basketball courts. “I see trampolining as a growing trend,” said Downie. “As this concept has caught on, there are trampoline parks popping up all over the country so we’re really excited to be the first people in the Northeast to open a new facility.”

Downie said the activity promotes health and fitness. “It’s amazing for your body. You’re jumping and playing and having a good time, but your heart rate goes up really quickly and you burn a ton of calories. Just the jumping and landing and balancing takes a lot of core strength – so you don’t realize it but you’re getting a really good core workout, super aerobic and they say you can burn as much as 1,000 calories an hour.” People can jump on the trampolines at Sky Zone Everett for $8 for a half hour; $12 for an hour; $16 for 90 minutes; and $18 for two hours. Special trampoline shoes are included in the jump price. “An hour is our most popular jump time,” said Downie. “We’ll be starting fitness classes (Skyrobics) in the new year for adults and kids. We’ll be doing Dodgeball tournaments on the trampolines. And we can host parties of any type: birthday parties, corporate events, youth group outings, and family reunions. It’s not just for kids. It’s for kids of all ages.
