Small Breed Puppies For Sale Near Pittsburgh Pa

Despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of puppies end up in animal shelters in need of a home each year, many people looking to buy Pittsburgh puppies for sale don’t know to think about adoption from an animal shelter or humane society. Many people simply are not aware of how many great adoptable puppies are available at Pittsburgh shelters. Some people might also have the misconception that puppies in shelters have something wrong with them. In fact, most Pittsburgh puppies for adoption end up in shelters not because of any problem with pet behavior or health issues, but because they were dropped off by someone who simply didn't have the time or money to care for the animals. In some cases pets are lost and never found by their owners. These animals are healthy and very eager to please. Shelter puppies are wonderful- just ask anyone who has one! Pittsburgh shelters have puppies of all breeds, including purebred puppies. Purebred puppies for sale in Pittsburgh sometimes end up in shelters because the person who bred their purebred dog was not able to sell all the puppies.
These people are sometimes called "backyard" dog breeders. They are people who breed dogs as a hobby or to make money, but don’t make a commitment to the puppies for life if they cannot find them a home. While people often think they want a purebred puppy, they might not realize that often mixed-breed puppies are genetically healthier. Less inbreeding means less inherited genetic disease and breed related defects, lower vet bills and happier little pooches! We Can Accept Donations Via PayPalHe is a 2- to 3-year-old husky/chow mix weighing about 56 lbs. Plushest guy on campus! He looks like an overstuffed teddy bear. Stone is so cute and polite and loves sitting in the shade to cool off at the SC shelter. With a jacket this thick, even the pleasant temps must have had him feeling a little toasty! He is good with other dogs. He stays very calm when meeting them. He also met another female Chloe on a walk at the shelter and he did great with intros. A yard kitty approached very near to where he was standing and he did not react. He is a friendly guy, but not bouncy or hyper. He was calm and quiet when he went on his walk, but his tail kept up a steady wag and he gave his handler kisses! He was happy to go over and greet some of the workers and get petted. He is up to date on shots and neutered. Please read our adoption information if you’re interested in adding Stone to your family. Upcoming Meet & Greet Events We regularly hold Meet & Greet events throughout each month.

As a growing rescue group, we are in constant need of volunteers who can assist us in saving dogs. If you are able to provide a foster home for dogs until they are adopted, please e-mail us for more information. Fostering is such a rewarding experience and is vital to our goal of placing rescued dogs into new permanent homes. Think that buying a puppy from a pet store isn’t such a big deal? That cute little puppy you want to buy is from a puppy mill and yes, pet stores WILL and DO lie to you and will tell you whatever you want to hear to make the sale.
It happens ALL of the time! In buying a puppy, you’re helping to keep puppy mills in business. Read more to learn about where pet store puppies come from. We are a group of volunteers whose goal is to save the lives of homeless dogs suffering in high-kill shelters, as well as owner-surrender dogs who need to be re-homed due to unfortunate circumstances. We are not a shelter, and we have no central location for the dogs we rescue. We pull dogs from various shelters and provide foster homes until they are adopted. In doing so, we hope to provide an alternative to the purchase of puppy mill and pet store dogs, thereby reducing the demand for, and ultimately, the supply of, such dogs. We strive to match each dog with the right family after the dog has been observed in a foster home. A home visit and reference/vet check will be done to determine the best placement of our dogs. You must complete an application, which will help us determine if the dog you are interested in is a good match for you.
Home At Last reserves the right to reject any application and reserves the sole right in determining the best placement for our dogs. The application is not a guarantee of any dog’s placement. You can complete our online adoption application with the name of the dog you are applying for. An adoption fee is necessary to cover the cost of spaying/neutering, medicating, and caring for dogs that often come from situations of neglect and sickness. We also pay the shelters a fee for every dog we rescue and sometimes have to pay a driver to transport them from shelters to our foster homes in PA and out of harm’s way. Without charging our own fee, we could not afford to do our work. Most PA county shelters get tax-payer funding and large corporate donations to support them so they can afford to let their animals go for a lower fee than we can. We thank you for your understanding. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $325. We only adopt out dogs that have been spayed or neutered to ensure that no dog adopted from Home At Last will be used for breeding.
