Just days prior to the show, Kanye tweeted out a casting call that caused some controversy. People didn't take too well to the call for "multiracial women only." He defended his wording in a preshow interview with Vogue. "How do you word the idea that you want all variations of black? How do you word that exactly?" He also pointed out that "The ten thousand people that showed up didn't have a problem with it."/o8sB124An3— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 3, 2016Among those who went to the casting was a topless protester who had "they want black features not black girls" written across her chest./0QFJfF4hPK— Aquamarine✨ (@ladybreec) September 4, 2016She explained her protest on social media.
"This is an indictment of not just Yeezy but the entire fashion and beauty industry in which there is a racialized hierarchy of beauty which is a ubiquitous symptom of the legacy of colonialism. This is a protest of a pervasive and dangerously toxic Ideology not Individuals. Prom Dress Rentals GeorgiaRegardless of whether Yeezy does choose to include darkskinned women in the end, the coded language of the casting call was clear and a part of a broader problem of colorism in the fashion industry." t's say 'apparel,' especially for the style of clothes I make," he said. "I'm not saying that this is a fashion proposition, I'm saying that this is a human proposition." The clothes are inspired by family, his home in Calabasas, California, and the desire to be out of the public eye sometimes. "Because there's absolutely no way for me or my family to be invisible, I've put that longing for invisibility into the clothes." Model Amina Blue — who you might recognize from Tyga's music video for "1 of 1" — nearly fell in her heels. So she took off her uncomfortable shoes and walked the rest of the way barefoot. She
changed into slides for the final walk. Another model struggled with her heeled boots and needed help finishing her walk. Kylie came to the model's defense on Twitter, saying that the model's heel broke.@KylieJenner @riseupkordei maybe she was nervous— Samira (@Samiprettyeyes) September 7, 2016Her heel broke.
