Any of our 48 or 52-volt batteries will work with this kit. 52 volts will get you more power and higher top speed  at about 30mph. A 48-volt battery will get you a little less power and top speed of 27mph but will be more reliable. Once you have picked the voltage then you just need to pick the size. The higher the AH the farther the battery will take you. A 10ah battery will give you 25 miles on average and a 20ah battery will got you 50 miles. More ah means bigger in size, more weight and harder to mount. We have a few battery options you can select with the kit...but we suggest you look through our entire battery selection to get a battery that suits you best. This is a 135mm wide axle which will fit on most front bike front forks. We recommend highly you use torque arms if installing on front fork and use extreme caution. The 135mm size will fit on the rear of fat bikes that are 150mm or narrower. Otherwise you will need a kit with a wide 170mm axle for rear installation.

We have ridden hundreds of miles on the sand for years without any motor failing. (read electric fat bike creations) The motor has temp probes and the controller will shut down if the motor gets too hot...saving your motor from overheating and being ruined. Cheaper ebike kits don't have this feature. Installing this hub motor kit is a one hour project. The motor is quality tube controller without the wiring rats nest that most Chinese controllers have. It puts out 25amps on a nice slim package that can be easily zip tied to any frame (see photos).   Literally the hardest part of installing this kit is taking off your old tire and installing on the new rim.  For extra easy installation you can add with a fat tire and innertube already installed. No soldering required with this kit and installation is a snap. The small sexy controller is not an eyesore and can be mounted easily on the bike . This is not a cheesy ugly ebike controller (see our artice on the ebike wiring rats nest.)   If anything ever breaks you can easily unplug it and replace it without messy soldering or wire splicing. Posted by Daniel Aguilar on Feb 19th 2016 I purchesed two of these to fit a Mongoose Malus fatbike. They are nice and sleek. The power is good and the lcd is nice. Just make sure you true the wheel (i had a friend help me). Once the wheel is solid these motors are nice it is deffinately not what you will expect. If you like to go fast get this kit just buy a good battery(luna shark pack). I used 52v and 48v very awesome ! I only rated 4 stars since you must check the wheel. can't marry a bike in oregon Posted by j oxford on Feb 11th 2016 who knew that an older gentleman could find true love in the form of a hub motor. this is actually my second kit and have logged hundreds of miles on the first so I thought I'd get another.

after a hundred or so miles this kit is working fine. too bad lc does not have the necessary controller to motor patch cord that would actually make this kit plug and play. I was forced to buy from a competitor to complete my kit which delayed my gratification. I am running these kits at 52v on a mongoose beast and a mongoose hitch and am having a blast. Posted by Jeff on Dec 9th 2015 The kit came very complete. I bought a Soma cromo heavy duty front fork for this kit. The problem controller cable to short. Contacted Luna they said no problem with me lengthening the wires. The controller is so compact I decided to mount on the fork leg in air flow. I ran wiring into handle bar mounted tool bag and out to controls all fairly clean. Custom mounting 2 48v 13amp Samsung packs aluminum case to lower frame. Have not ran it yet still working on mounts, headlight, tail light, small DC/DC converter for 12v lighting all led. Luna cycles are helpful and curtious. So far so good. Hoping all works as good as company employees have been.
