A Nation Remembers | 'Tunnel To Towers' Race MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — If you’re looking for furniture, downtown Minneapolis is the place to go on Friday. The Hyatt Regency is having a big liquidation sale. The hotel is being renovated, so all the furniture is being replaced. Among the items up for bid are Sealy pillow-top full size beds, granite top nightstands, chairs, desks, artwork, lamps, mirrors, drapes and much more. All the items will be in the former Oceanaire Restaurant on the second level of the Hyatt. The sale begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 7 p.m. weekdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. Goin' To The LakeThe Leaderboard Featured Shows & Multimedia Advertise On Our StreamsAn Indianapolis-based real estate investment firm bought an Embassy Suites in Schaumburg, the suburb's third hotel sale in as many months.Hotel Capital acquired the 209-room Embassy Suites Chicago-Schaumburg/Woodfield from New Orleans-based Burrus Investment Group.

The deal closed last week, said Paul Williams, a vice president at the Plasencia Group, a Tampa, Fla.-based hotel investment and consulting firm that represented Burrus.Michael Collier, president and chief operating officer of Hotel Capital, said the firm plans to spend about $6 million on renovations to the hotel, 1939 N. Meacham Road. Neither Collier nor Williams would disclose the purchase price, which is not yet available in Cook Country property records. “We wanted to have a hotel in Schaumburg,” Collier said. “Throughout the downturn, this hotel has always performed well, it just needs to be fully renovated. It has been a profitable venture for the owners that we bought it from, and we hope and expect that profitability to continue for us.”Schaumburg reflects a hotel market heating up nationwide, as rising occupancies and cheap interest rates have allowed hoteliers to generate more profit. Schaumburg's average hotel occupancy rate rose to 63.2 percent in the first five months of 2015, up from 61.8 percent a year earlier, according to STR, a research firm in suburban Nashville, Tenn.

The average daily rate for Schaumburg hotel rooms rose to $101.45 during the first five months of 2015, compared to $97.27 a year earlier.Hotel Capital had been eyeing the Schaumburg submarket for quite some time, Collier said, first losing out on a deal involving the Hyatt Regency Woodfield, which was sold in April to Chicago-based real estate firm First Equity Group for a price in the mid-$20 million range. The property Hotel Capital did buy—the Embassy Suites Chicago-Schaumburg/Woodfield hotel—was a close second choice in the suburb for the firm. Collier said his company likes the investments being made in nearby Woodfield Mall and already had a relationship with the company that manages the hotel, New Orleans-based Expotel Hospitality. The purchase was the third hotel deal in Schaumburg this year, following the Hyatt Regency deal in April and the purchase of the 128-room Hyatt Place at 1801 McConnor Parkway. A New York real estate investment trust bought that hotel as part of a $300-million deal for 13 hotels around the country.

Expotel will continue managing the hotel, said president and Chief Operating Officer Kerry Ranson. Planned renovations include upgrades to the rooms and lobby, all new carpets and furniture and a potential rebranding and upgrade of the hotel's restaurant, a Creole-steakhouse fusion called Lafitte's.Ranson also declined to disclose the purchase price. A representative from Burrus Investment Group was not immediately available for comment. FF&E Surplus Warehouse and Distribution Solutions Houston’s Best Kept Secret… Work with the experts.
