French-pleat curtains made with light- or medium-weight fabrics help give your room a tailored, elegant look. The series of three pleats pinched at the base creates a graceful fan effect as the folds spread upward. The kind of hardware used, such as a decorative rod and rings, or a curtain track, figure in the length of each curtain panel. Calculating the yardage for French-pleat curtains also includes a fullness value of 2.25 to ensure enough fabric for the width of your hardware. Install the curtain rod or track according to manufacturer instructions. When you're using a decorative rod with rings and prongs, insert these rings on the rod to help you calculate the fabric length later. Measure the vertical length of the curtains from the base of the curtain ring on the rod to the preferred lower hem.

If using a curtain track, measure from one-half inch above the track’s top edge to allow the pleated header to hide this hardware.
Wooden Bathroom Mats UkAdd four inches to the top and four inches to the bottom for the header and lower hems.
Largest Vinyl Flooring ManufacturersThe vertical length plus eight inches equals the cutting length for each panel.
Can I Put Car Seat Cover In DryerMeasure the width of the installed curtain rod or track. Include the width of the two return brackets, if applicable. Exclude the width of the finials on a decorative rod as the fabric does not hang from these extended ends. Record this width in your notepad. Multiply this recorded width by 2.25 for French pinch-pleat curtains. For example, if your rod measures 75 inches wide, multiply 75 inches by 2.25 for 187.5 inches or 188 inches rounded up.

Divide this calculated width by the width of the fabric to give the number of widths. You may need to take your notepad to the fabric store, select a fabric, and then record the width of the fabric as labeled on the bolt. For example, drapery fabrics often come in a 54-inch width, but you might select a fabric that comes in a width of 45 inches or 60 inches. The exact fabric width helps you calculate the number of widths needed. Multiply the number of widths by the cutting length. In the example, the width of 188 inches divided by 54 inches equals approximately 3.5 widths. Multiply 3.5 by the cutting length to give you the amount of fabric in inches. Divide this value in inches by 36 inches to calculate the yardage. Though curtains may be an integral part of a room's furnishings, offering privacy, insulation and control over incoming light, they are also a fantastic interior design tool perfect for adding character and individuality to your home. Here at Homebase we want to make it as easy as possible for you to find the perfect set and therefore stock a wide range of designer, contemporary and ready made curtains. As all of our curtains have been specially selected by Homebase, you'll know that you're getting a great product at an unbeatable price.Unlike blinds which generally hang within the window itself, curtains can be a lot larger than the window frame, sometimes even stretching from the floor to the ceiling. This can make them a very eye-catching feature; dominating small rooms and making large spaces feel even bigger. Pencil pleat curtains are perfect for emphasising the height of your room as their vertical lines help to draw the eye upwards. Match the colours from your eyelet curtains with colours in your bedding and soft furnishings for a look with added impact.
