They are mail order, from California, and do an excellent job. It was about $800 a window for x-large picture windows but that was more than 10 years ago. I don't recall the price per yard breakdown. They do custom and ready made. f you want to go with a local company SewFine2 seems to do a great job. Several of my neighbors have used them and rave about them. They are located in Sutton Station (don't let that scare you away ). I have no idea about their cost. Also, something else to keep in mind. Those 1K plus window treatments may very well get soiled by little ones if children are in the future or even if they come to visit. I'll never forget seeing cake w/ bright Buzz Light Year blue icing being hurled toward my expensive window treatments in my dining room. Needless to say that was the last bday party we invited that 2 year old kid too. And no it did not come out completely... even w/ multiple dry cleanings. In the meantime while you are trying to make up your minds, Lowes sells those paper blinds you cut and tape to your windows. Last year my daughter wanted a Halloween costume that I wasn't competent enough to sew (in other words, it wasn't a pillow, or just a series of buttons sewn onto fabric), so we picked out the fabric and bought it, then went to Craigslist and found a seamstress who did a wonderful job sewing the costume (we didn't even have a pattern, just instructions for making your own pattern, but she did it all). Drapes are pretty straightforward, even lined and pleated drapes. I'm sure you could find fabric that you love at a local shop or online for much less, and then find someone on Craigslist who can make it happen at a MUCH more reasonable price.
