In conjunction with its corporate wellness program, Riverview Health recently completed it’s fourth annual Waist Reduction weight-loss challenge between seven businesses, organizations and entities. Beginning earlier this year, on Jan. 11, employees from the City of Noblesville, Westfield Washington Schools, Hamilton Co. government, Noblesville Schools, Riverview Health, Meyer Najem and Taylored Systems competed against one another to see which group could cut the most weight. “This eight-week program was developed to build a sense of community and to provide an incentive for the new year to make lifestyle changes through healthy eating, exercise and weight loss,” a statement from Riverview Health read. Riverview Health Rehab & Fitness provided two fitness classes each week to support the the participants in addition to three presentations by the Riverview Health wellness team.

“A total of 181 pounds were lost by all participants … ” stated Mindi Matthews, director of Health & Wellness at Riverview Health. “Aside from the weight loss, the great thing about this program is it gets people to establish a healthier lifestyle, which is the ultimate goal.” A $100 Amazon gift card was awarded to one male and one female participant with the greatest weight loss percentage, and with an average weight loss of nearly 3 percent, the trophy was awarded to Noblesville Schools.
