On their third night, Clay unexpectedly made reservations at a high end steakhouse. They were seated at a quaint table for two on the balcony of the restaurant, overlooking 3 huge water fountains in the middle of the ocean bay – it was gorgeous! Clay ordered a bottle of very nice champagne, not drawing any suspicion, from Kristen as they are on vacay after all. Shortly after there, the champagne was popped, Clay stood up to take over the pouring from the gentleman serving them. He comes over to her side and pours her glass and his, and suddenly gets down on one knee, opens up his hand revealing the most beautiful emerald cut diamond she had ever seen, and with his sweet southern accent, says, “I have loved you and will love you for the rest of my life, will you marry me?”

Their wedding ceremony was very short and sweet, but almost every detail was intentional. Kristen is a very detail oriented person so everything from the monogrammed stirring sticks used by the bar to the location of the lounge furniture were intentional. From the bride: I think our wedding’s authenticity comes from what we created. The setting, being it represents Clay, and the style, which represents me, it encompassed us both creating something unique & authentic. They, more so than ever, became my protectors and all played their part in making sure I was taken care of after he passed, I couldn’t imagine that moment without them. That moment was absolutely beautiful. My mom was a mess! Father daughter dances are always a difficult thing for her to watch when she would attend weddings. I would imagine my very own father/daughter dance and it would break my heart knowing it wasn’t possible… but on the day of my wedding, my sweet brothers each took turns sweeping me off my feet and twirling me around the floor as my father would have done, all while playing Lost by Michael Buble in the background- the song I listened to on repeat for months after he passed. Take a deep breath, don’t stress, as crazy as that sounds, and enjoy every moment of planning. It is gone before you know it. The dress I got was beautiful, it wasn't exactly what I'd designed, but it was beautiful. Everyone I dealt with was very nice from the beginning. The price was pretty reasonable for a custom made dress. And, they worked with me even though I was just before the 90 day mark. Bad news- This was my wedding dress. I was supposed to have it a week before the wedding AT THE LATEST. They never called to tell me it was going to be late. I had to call them when I was supposed to have my fitting. I didn't even see it until 24 hours before the wedding and it wasn't even finished. I got the finished product two and a half hours before I walked down the aisle. I know it's a little detail, but it didn't have the tag with designed by me on it either.

Small, but I was really excited about that part, too. Then, they tried to make it sound like I was getting a $100 discount (which wouldn't have been enough for all the hassle and having to buy a backup dress 48 hours before the wedding). It wasn't a discount. I made a last minute change that meant they had to do probably 60%-70% less embroidery. That was the $100, but he didn't tell me that until I asked flat out. I guess he didn't think I would remember. So, for all the stress I got nothing but an 'I'm sorry, it's not our fault.' Like I said, they were very nice, but I also didn't give them a reason not to be.
